We, at JSCOE always keep our students at center in the teaching learning process. Our faculties have adopted state of the art teaching pedagogy to broaden the curiosity, creativity, amongst the learners. To keep pace with changing technology and demand of learner all faculties integrated ICT tools and innovative pedagogy in their regular teaching. This enhances the young mind to increase their learning capacity. These methods disseminate technical knowledge and increase students’ engagement & active participation during the teaching-learning process.
Pedagogy is at the heart of teaching and learning, used in preparing students to meet new contemporary challenges. Particular pedagogical approaches have been developed and refined to promote a variety of different kinds of learning: for example, learning of explicit content, learning of particular ways of doing things, or the learning of values and habits.
The various teaching pedagogical initiatives incorporated for effective teaching-learning process are as follows.
Assessment and Evaluation of Students on Moodle: The best way to evaluate the students in a subject is by conducting class tests and quizzes. This is made more interesting by using game pedagogy methods. Tests are generated in the form of crosswords, KBC, snake & ladder, and puzzles, etc. so that the students get to engage and give their best. Few faculty members have their separate Gynomio account where they upload course material. This platform provides the facility to monitor the engagement of the students in the learning process, access their work and give immediate feedback.

- Interactive Learning: It is a hands-on approach to help students become more engaged. This helps to strengthen students problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Question & answer session at the end of every lesson.
- Student presentation on a given topic.
- Moodle -interactive videos with questions & answers.
- Batch wise tutorial sessions /assignments for personal involvement of the learner in problem solving or analysis
- Batch wise student’s interaction & lab experiments conduction after the guidelines by faculty etc.
- Collaborative Learning: It is an educational approach to teaching and learning that involves groups of students working together to solve a problem, complete a task, or create a product.
- Group activities like technical surveys, model making, chart making, poster presentations.
- Seminars / project demonstration.
- Industrial visits, Industrial trainings/ workshops.
- Curricular and Co-curricular activities like audit course, Tech-manthan, Group Discussion, technical quiz competitions etc.
- Various models of teaching like simulation, mind maps, inductive thinking, fish bowl, role playing, think pair & share, game pedagogy, flip the class etc.
- Project based learning.
- Peer learning: skill development in organizing and planning learning activities, working collaboratively with each others etc.
- Use of ICT: Apart from traditional methods, faculty members are using modern tools to enhance teaching-learning. The use of LCD, smart panels, portable devices makes it easy to add audio-video effects in the classroom teaching and helps the faculty to explain even complex ideas in an easy way to students.
Use of MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) / Coursera online platforms: MOOCS are a relatively new entry in the academic sector throughout the world. All faculties imparts additional knowledge to students by augmenting our efforts of effective delivery through MOOCs agencies like NPTEL and SWAYAM. Recently Jayawantrao Sawant College of Engineering, Hadapsar Pune has taken membership of Coursera, the leading online learning platform, to make our students job ready. It’s a digital leap towards transforming the learning experience for our students, alumni, and faculty! The highlights of Coursera online courses are:

Data analytics, AI, machine learning, cloud computing, blockchain, and more - our student community is turbocharging their skills on Coursera.Learning in an informal setting: The group of faculty members created learning clubs namely Auto club, Discovery club, Drone club to enhance specific technical skills amongst students. These clubs allow students to explore things in various ways which include discussions, learning by doing and connecting to the multidisciplinary field.
Use of simulation and prototypes: Some faculty members are using simulators and prototypes which help the students to relate and demonstrate through real-life situations. It makes the subject / topic / concept easy to understand and keep the students involved. Conduction of experiments through industry perspective, in the case of experiments, the experimentation done at various possible conditions and conclusions are made accordingly.
Use of Social Media in Teaching and Learning: Faculty members have created students WhatsApp group of their subject as an online forum for discussion and to create awareness of different technical aspects. These forums provide a platform to discuss difficulties and share their ideas regarding a subject and understand the views of other students on a given topic.
